Building your own world

Do you have a fictional world that you'd like to tell us about? Perhaps you've never considered building one before and are not sure where to start. By using Jacmus Prime's Fictional World Building Model you can begin creating a geofiction for your own enjoyment and your friends. JP's model is provided as a guide to help start creative thinking.

As a member of JP you and your friends each have access to a Fictional World Page which you can fill with information about your world. You can make a world as a group and link your pages together or you can each make your own world and have fun exploring ideas and concepts on our forums.

You don't have to use our Model in your creation. Creating a geofiction is just like writing a fictional book. There is no one way to do it. Discuss your thoughts with other members on our Forums. You can use guides and ideas from all over the net, to build your project and launch it into the Jacmus Prime Fictional Worlds showcase.

Slide into a fantastical universe

Here is just some of the things you can do:

Come, join us.

Jacmus Prime - the realm.

In July 2002, the url www.jacmus-prime.com was purchased for the purpose of being the administration site for the cheeta-chat and yahoo rpg: Jacmus Prime.

The RPG began as a popular 'realm' for experienced yahoo rpgers who came from other realms such as Eden-era, Ayenee, Mordor, Babylon and Tenaria. The realm of Mordor eventually merging into Jacmus Prime after its first few weeks of robust roleplaying.

Unlike other rpgs in Yahoo which were greatly focused on character development with limited plot line, Jacmus Prime's focus was on greater plot development and smaller quests that would assist in growing the world and its recorded adventures.

The popularlity of Jacmus Prime was greatly assisted by a small handful of online personalities, such as Juntai (Matt), Somber (Seth), Dalmuros (Alex), Ross (Ethan) who were able to inspire other role-players to join and to be involved in the greater story lines.

Approximately a year and a half to two years after the site was hosted at this URL, it was moved to Jacmus-Prime.net but never regained its popularity or it's administrative stability.

Like most amatuer rpgs as the bigger names became less committed the younger players also began to loose their enthusiasm and 'life' caught up. Jacmus Prime, RPG still lives in the memories of it's players.

 North and South

Science and TechnologyIf your world is spherical in nature, including Poles will be a consideration especially if you are looking to achieve a natural world as we know it. Recently I did some research on Poles for a fantasy world and I found out some very interesting facts that were useful when considering the characteristics the Poles. The most significant finds that I hadn't previously considered were the distinctions between the Geometric Pole and the Magnetic Pole, and the Pole movement that occurs due to ice flows and other variations.

World Builders: Geology - the impact on Fictional Worlds

WorldsRecently I joined a textual role-play realm to find out if, like eveyother "chat" community that I have breezed by lately it too had ground to a halt. I was very surprised to find this place actually had a dozen or so interested role-players who were able to meet about the same time online.

While there was no role-play occurring in chat, there was world building discussion going on, as the rpg was undergoing a rebirth of ideas and energy from both new and old players. The particular discussion focused on the map building of the world. One of the players was a geologist who with one glance at the current map, apparently went into fits and after further discussion was given the task of creating a new map for the rpg.

The geologist was quite vocal in condemning the current map as it had not been created with geologically sound reasoning. This brought to my mind, the question of whether geologically sound reasoning was a necessity for fictional world building?.

Our latest poll asks you to answer that question. We want to know your opinion. Are fictional worlds required to have geologically sound reasoning?.

If you'd like to back up your opinion with further discourse, the question has also been raised on our forum.
